Rats. A lot of rats. 25 of them.
I’ve been playing with crayons lately, and unthinkingly left some on the desk. The rats had a good time gnawing before I took them away, most of them anyway. Agnes got away with three of them.
Oliver, having the obligatory pee on them

I’ve tried eating crayons.
I don’t see the attraction.
I’ve never eaten a crayon. Rats love to eat candles, too. Gotta be the wax.
When I was a kid there were these syrup-filled wax things…
and they still exist
Oh yes, I remember those!
Does eating crayons result in colorful, festive rat poopies?
Not that I’ve noticed. They don’t really eat them, they just shred them.
Gnawing wax with sharp incisors must feel really good.
I imagine the tooth feel is wonderful for them, they enjoy very specific things for that reason.
Thank you for posting these, Caine. You answered my unasked question about what would happen if you inadvertently left the crayons where they might be found by enterprising little hands and teeth. :D :D
A Ratmas box is on its way to you. USPS says it should arrive on 12/24, if they are to be believed.
It’s fortunate I got all the oil pastels cleaned up before they were discovered, I can imagine the mess they would have made with those!
Oh, thank you so much!
A mess, I’m sure, that wouldn’t clean up anywhere near as fast. :D
