Artemis and Amelia Go Nuts

It’s that time of year again, leading up to Ratmas, which means…NUTS!

  1. More utter cuteness – and the answer to a question I had. That is, do you give the rats nuts in their shells? Based on this picture, you do. I’m sure they are very skilled and clever when it comes to removing the nuts from their protective shells.

  2. The rats will all very happily wait, impatiently, while you crack nuts for them, but they are more than up to the task of chewing through the shells to get the nuts. They chew big ass holes in the shells and extract the nuts. So, they like them both ways, freshly cracked or in the shell. They actually get very excited when Rick will sit down with a big bag of nuts and start cracking them, especially if he’s doing walnuts. They get much too impatient to wait for the nuts to be extracted, and will take off with half shells.

This time out, they haven’t seen nuts in the shell since last Ratmas, and that’s a very long time to a rat, so they were mondo excited and performing their version of the Nutcracker Suite the first night. Happy sounds of chewing, like maracas and castanets.

  3. Now that is a happy image to take to sleep.
Rick trying to do the nut-cracking at a pace to satisfy a hoarde of ratties.
    (deliberate spelling)
    also the image of ratballet
    Do they do Swan Lake?

  4. In the third pic, Artemis looks to be saying, “All of these are mine. Back off!”

  5. The way those girls thieve, yeah. Artemis and Amelia race one another to items to be thieved and stashed, it’s something to see. I have to hand goodies out to the rest of the crew, they don’t stand a chance when those girls have their thief on.
